S&W Model 1000 jams

Post by Calisdad » Mon Dec 21, 2009 12:34 am

Anyone know what would cause a S&W 1000 to hang up and not feed an occasional shell? Gun has little use and was just disassembled and cleaned at a gunsmiths. He couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Thanks
C-dad

is it a problem with just one type of shell or does it happen no matter what you are using?

Not sure. I know it hung up yesterday with Federal Game loads. (2-1/2 dram 1210fps 7/8oz shot)
This is a 20ga btw.

Hung up again today on the Federal load. Seems to shoot the target load fine and its 1200fps. Could that little difference make a difference???

Called S&W and they referred me to LSG who didn't answer the phone.

No ideas? Guess I tear it apart tomorrow.

Had one that I gave to my best friend(moved to O/U's). Great gun-I just found that the gas system needed to be cleaned on a regular basis if shot to any degree. I had put at least 10K in skeet rounds through it when I passed it along.

Thanks fase3. I cleaned it today and it was dirtier than I would have expected after 75 rounds. It was also missing the shock washer. How often did you find you needed to clean yours?
