Tikka 22-250
Does anyone have any info on this gun? I am looking at getting one. I don't do a lot of coyote hunting but would like it for the occasional yote, skunk or coon that comes my way. What would you put on it for a scope? I was thinking a Nikon Coyote Special or a vx 3 by leupold 3.4x10-40. The leupold is on the high side of my price limit so nothing more than that. Thanks for the help.

Tikka is made by the same people that build the Sako line of rifles and comes with the same factory accuracy guarantee. as far as your choices in scopes, I would probly go with the nikon and save a few bucks.

A limit on the strap is nice, but the kill has nothing to do with tradition.

Friend at the range shoots a Tikka in .308. It's got a good trigger and shoots very well for a factory rifle. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one and I expect a lot from my rifles.
The downside is if you expect to ever have the action trued and such. If you ever plan to go that route, I'd get a Remington or just skip the truing and get a custom Remington clone. There must be a couple of dozen on the market now.
I think Midway has Lapua 22-250 brass on sale right now. If you plan to reload, I'd go for it. It's the best brass available.
Primers are still scarce right now. Some powders as well.
I don't have any experience with the Leupold scope that you mention. I have a 45x-45mm Competition Series on my benchrest rifle. It's great. The best thing about the Leupold is the lifetime, transferable warranty. Anything goes wrong, they fix it.

I own a Tikka 22-250 with a Nikon Monarch 4.5 -16. Great setup. For the money the Tikka is very hard to beat. I love it.

Re: Tikka 22-250
Hi guys, thanks for replying. I ended up getting a really good deal on a Leupold vx3 scope 4.5x14 with a 50mm lens with a varmint hunters reticle. The guy only had it on his gun for a month. He replaced it with the same exact thing in a higher power. He is handicapped and doesn't go far from his truck so he needs something to reach out and touch. It has one little mar on it but I think the scope rings will cover it. I ended up paying less for this than the other scopes I was looking at.
Any suggestions on factory 22-250 Ammo? I may reload in the future but for now just gonna buy it.
Thanks

Try Federal Premium loaded with the 55 grain Sierra BlitzKing. The product code is P22250C.
If you get to a point that you want tighter groups than you can get with the stock rifle and factory ammo, shoot me a PM. I'd be glad to help.

Re: Tikka 22-250
Thanks Greg. Just getting my feet wet. I don't plan on doing any cometitions or bench rest stuff as of now. That being said I didn't plan on having more than one HUNTING dog. Now I have three that are or will be TRIALING/HUNTING. Funny how that happens. Anyhow, if I start reloading which I am thinking about doing I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Tikka 22-250
Wasn't really thinking about competition. Thinking about handloading for economy and/or accuracy. Also how to avoid spending too much money should you eventually burn out the barrel. One good prairie dog hunt and your barrel might be toast.
