Have any of you shot or hunted with this shotgun? It is the one with a 21'' barrel. Please let me know. I just want to have the all around opinion for quail and dove hunting.

I have the Sam Walton version and it has the 23 inch barrel, and it's barrel seems too short for my liking.I also dont really care for the straight stock either, been shooting the regular stocks too long I guess. They are fine guns though. As far as function and quality, you don't have a thing to worry about there. The most important thing is does it fit you,if it doesn't come up and go right on target without you even thinking about it,dont buy it,it's not the gun for you.

I had one and while I like a straight grip, the grip was too small.
Bulk and balance are the main factors in building confidence in liking and, maybe, shooting a scattergun...weight is not much of an issue unless at the extremes of either direction.
Try the gun...you will either mesh or not.
For me, the 20-391 or the 12 BUL are both guns of the same niche and both far and away superior in handling.
They will all go bang and kill stuff tho.

I bought one for my son, it had a youth sized stock and a 24" barrel. What a sweet heart it was. I sold it to buy a Beretta O/U for him. I use to take the 1100 Grouse hunting when he wasn't looking...I still miss that gun.

In the 1100, recommend the regular LT-20. Can't remember if they have a 25 or 26" barrel. The short barrel on the "Special Field" contributes somewhat to a jerky swing which hinders good shooting form.
There is a good reason why top skeet shooters have migrated from 26" barrels (on O/U's) to 28" and for several years now many shooting 30". That's skeet where the vast majority of shots are 21 yards or shorter.
I bought my kids a 28 ga 1100 special sporting. It's one of the better things I've ever done. It's sweeettttt.

I had one for a short while. Felt quick and handy in the store, couldn't hit a thing with it. Those short barrells are really loud too.

I really like short barrels and love the way that English stock looks but I don't like the way it swings.......sorta twists my wrist compared to regular stock.

I have the Special Field in a 12 ga and 20 ga. Best quail guns made. Hunted the 12 ga until the trigger guard was worn sharpe. Love the 20 ga. as I have gotten older and need something lighter. When I want to use a 12 ga I now have a SBE II that is light so I use it now. Best bird gun for the money I would say.

We had one...it was a nice little shotgun....Remington 1100 reliable. I couldn't shoot it worth a hoot...but neither could my son when he outgrew it. When it fit him, though, it was great for him. Ours has had a wonderful life...being sold and traded to family friends for their kids. I know it's on at least its fourth youngster starting out now. It's been used on turkey, deer, upland, and tons of backyard clays!!!
If it fits...you'll be happy with it.

I second the "heck of a quail gun". Very quick mounting and the gun I used to shoot five quail with five shots on a covey rise the only time in my life.

I had the 11-87 Upland Special...essentially the same gun except mine had a 23" barrel. I could not shoot it and eventually traded for a Benelli Montefeltro and never looked back.

One of the best shotguns ever made
Good gun and easy to shoot for me- despite some of the comments on here
Shotguns work best when pointed and not aimed and this one is easy to carry and to point
