What is the difference between the Rem 870 Express and the Rem 870 Wingmaster other than about $400?

The express is the top selling shotgun(at least it was at one time) there not as pretty as the wingmaster but there tough and reliable and handle really well you can't go wrong with the express if its going to be your first gun.

I've got one and they are almost indestructable. The AK-47 of pump shotguns.

Not sure of all the differences...fit and finish are the obvious two.
I do believe though that the extractor was cheapened; the trigger housing was made of plastic or somesuch; I also heard the manner of retaining the magazine spring changed.
Those are all the differences I can recall.
Would they make a difference?
Possibly, over time and for some of them.
Might even be an improvement.
Most are not likely to shoot the Express enough to ever know.
I expect the Express 870s are worth their money tho I would never shoot Registered Trap with one....an old 870, I would.

One is as pretty as a speckled pup and the other is as ugly as a mud fence. JMHO
