Chamber for an older 9 shot H & R blank pistol

Post by gspdogman1 » Mon Sep 20, 2010 2:47 pm

I lost the chamber to my 9 shot H & R 22 cal. blank pistol a couple weeks ago and am trying to locate a replacement. The pistol is about 30 years old. I bought a chamber from Numrich but it only fits a regular 22 cal. pistol. Does anyone know where I might find a replacement?

Did you try calling H&R directly? They may have one somewhere in stock. Good luck.

Are you saying you ordered a cylinder for an H&R Model 970 (.22 prior to 1970) and they sent you the wrong cylinder or they don't have a cylinder & extractor assembly in stock for your H&R model? There are two different cylinders for the 970, series K-V is item # 846890, series v & on is #846900.

Mine is a 22 cal. 9 shot starter pistol. They sent me a cylinder for a regular 22 cal. pistol which doesn't fit the starter pistol. Numrich has stocked the starter pistol cylinders in the past but they show them on their website as "sold out."

I called the company and they said they do not make parts for the starter pistol any longer.

As you probably know Numrich gets used parts in as they acquire used guns to part out. They may get another one in tomorrow or it could be months or more. I wonder what you could get for it if you can't find a cylinder & sell it for parts? People who have that H&R 970 and use it tend to like 'em & hang on to their blank guns. Once in a while you can find a used one for sale. There are other gun parts businesses that you can search for online. Good luck.

Geeze,

I couldn't believe it! I just noticed a decent looking H&R 970 sold on an online gun auction for $32.00 in Aug., 2010. It pays to keep an eye out but you might have to look a long time to find a decent one for sale again.

Do you recall the online auction where you saw the H & R starter pistol?

I just typed "H&R 970 for sale" on Google's search engine. Here's that particular item: http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displ ... =9840326.0

I just copied this post off another site but couldn't tell if this would work for your H&R or just for the later NEF version:

I am a little late to this discussion but if you are only missing the cylinder and/or cylinder pin you can get a replacement.

I just got mine back a week ago. For less than $100 I got 2 cylinders and pins. I wanted to get 2 just in case I lost the cylinder and pin again. Figured it was cheap insurance.

You might try a PM (private message) through this site to Boxa. Here's a copy of his Gundog Forum post last year:

NEF or H&R Blank Pistols

Does anyone have a blank pistol that has lost the pin or the cylinder that they'd like to sell?

I'd be interested in picking up a couple, if you're tired of looking for parts.Caleb F. Bryson
