Barrel dent ?
Had a quick question for those more in the know than I. I am looking at a shotgun in 16 made wih Krupp Steel in 1935 that has a small dent in the right barrel. Not being up to speed on older materials would this be safe to shoot? Could it be repaired? Should it be repaired? Any help appreciated. I am trying to get some pics from the seller but have none at this point.

Re: Barrel dent ?
Any number opf folks could assess the dent.
I would go on www.doublegunshop.com and ask for advice...those folks would have the widest knowledge on the dent, where it is located on the barrel and repairs.
Seems like '35' might be late for Krupp barrels...maybe not.

Re: Barrel dent ?
I guess each dent could be different, I had a friend that fell with his gun and dented the barrel. He had it repaired and you could never tell that it had been dented.

Re: Barrel dent ?
Good luck with it, hope it comes out.
Re: Barrel dent ?
all you need are a couple of brass plugs of the correct diameter and a dowell rod and hammer. start with a plug slightly smaller than your bore diameter and lightly tap it beyond the dent. next plug should be bore diameter and repeat with this plug. use some wax or resizing lube, and clean barrel before starting.
after you are done you could sell the brass plugs on this web site because there are alot of 16 gauges with small dents in the tubes.

Dirty S,
Most all minor dents in Krupp BBls can be fixed, get a master gun maker Like Freddie Brunner or Rich Painter to remove the dent and you will probably not even know the dent even existed.
