Which do you prefer for an all around utility hunting gun and why? I Shoot an M2 which is raised and like it. i just found out a raised rib will cause POI to be high compared to POA. Never patterned it, we shoot clay pigeons (backyard style) frequently to stay sharp. I read that most benellis at set-up to shoot 60/40 pattern.Will shimming the comb down balance this out? I read hat it would and also that it will not change POI.

Neither...I prefer a plain barrel or one with a matted top....balance being the important factor.
On a SXS, it depends, either swamped or flat...never a vent for the same reasons I do not care for 1960s cadillacs.

Chokes can be cut to alter impact but the eye normally sets the stage.
Whether you prefer a scattergun to shoot flat or not can depend upon the shots at birds you most often encounter.

I like my hunting guns or gun used for sporting clays or skeet with a flat rib. If I'm shooting trap, I like the high rib for the increased POI and it provides your head with a more natural position.
