Ithaca 100 SxS 20 gage info needed

Post by ChiefO » Sat Jan 06, 2018 12:02 pm

What are you guys seeing for the going rate on an Ithaca model 100 20 gage SxS with 28 inch barrels? It’s choked mod and full so I’d have to have it opened up for quail. Wood conditionshows some knicks from hunting. Bluing is excellent. Lockup is tight. Gun fits and swings well. Guy is wanting $900 for it. I figure I’d have another $100 in it to have chokes done. What’s your guys thoughts? Doesn’t seem like a smoking deal but it sure is tempting.

$900 is probably in the ballpark but it's no steal. There is a very nice Ithaca 100 on Gun Broker right now for $995. Only issue I see with it is that someone put a "butt ugly" pad on the stock. But you could probably find an original butt plate since the stock hasn't been cut. And maybe the seller would take less. He's not getting any bids.

That sounds high to me. That model normally does not have ejectors. I have a SKB 200 20 ga I will sell for the same price if interedted.

Ha! First SxS I ever got had ejector's and I took them out. One thing it did for me was to make it easier to break the action open. Not fighting the ejector spring's anymore.

I researched Ithaca 100 and 200e 20 gauge S/S for about 18 months last year, as I wanted one of those two guns. There is not a ton of info around the internet on them, but what I gathered from internet research, watching gunbroker.com auctions, and speaking with local gunsmiths was the following. Anything under $1000 for a Ithaca 100 - 20 gauge in good shape is a deal. Everything I saw ranged from $1,100 - $1,400 based on condition. An Ithaca 200e - 20 gauge with the filigree ranges from $1,400 - $2,000 based on condition. Both can be a bit of a challenge to find in good condition, as they are pretty highly sought after because of the general quality for the price. It took me all of that 1.5 years to find one locally and I am in Boise, Idaho where guns and upland hunters are quite plentiful. I bought a 200e last summer from a local guy who had the chokes redone by a local gunsmith to Skeet #1 and Skeet #2 for the lower end of that range.
