Do you have a preference?

I have been using permatack collars and have been quite pleased.

Nylon fabric. I love leather collars, but they always seem to stain the dog for the first year. Nylon fabric lasts forever. Stay away from that breakable "quick clip" buckle though.

I like the rubber collars. The last longer and you can wash them with out weakening the integrity of the collar.

Oops, I voted leather but I use a Permatack collar as well. It's hard to remember that it's not leather. It's so much more sturdy and withstands the elements much better.

Just don't forget to get extra long rivets if you want to add a brass nameplate to it. They double over the stuff, which makes the collar almost twice as thick as a standard strap leather collar.

My wife makes & sells fabric collars, so I'm kinda stuck? Actually, she makes Martingale collars (which are similar to a choke, but with built in limits), & they work very well for Zoomie. He doesn't really pull, & the collar "checks" him if he does. The downfall is that my wife sews them from various fabrics, & they don't hold up too well. The upshot is that I'm married to the manufacturer, so I can get all I want!

I too love good leather collar's. Heavy stiff leather, but I used heavy stiff nylon collars with a D ring. When I put it on the dog I like it to slide around the neck like a steel ring. Always keep's the check cord and the snap in the right place!
