I everyone, should we change the breeds section to Pointers, Retrievers, etc to shorten it up?

Or

Leave it like it is.

If we should change it, what should the categories be?

I have been meaning to suggest this. I think it would generate more discussion.

Careful how you name these! Is a pointing Lab a pointer? Don't Spaniels retrieve? How about FRench Spaniels? :P

If you want to catgorize I'd do pointers and flushers.

I categorized those according to akc at:

We’ll see how this unfolds….

I would go with pointers, flushers, and retrievers it really breaks it down. 12 volt is right it will make for more discusions. Shouldn't have to much talk out of the brittany owners since there is not a section for sticker magnet, dogbox rockets, and 2 miles ahead of you hunting with out you. Just kidding around out there Ha!Ha!

I like Pointers, Retrievers, Spaniels. The pointers seem to be the most popular topic here, followed by the retrievers and spaniels. I don't see the need to have all the breeds individually....they don't get much traffic.

I kind of like being able to check out the breed specific sections, especially when I've just run across one that I'm not at all familiar with. I think that, within each group, one breed might "take over" because it's more popular. For example, GSP's seem to be well represented on the forum relative to other pointing breeds and Vizsla owners might feel lost in the mix.

Whatever you decide, I'll still be here! :D

I wouldn't feel lost out as a vizsla owner. There are a lot of GSP owners here, but I think for all training purposes the same techniques will work no matter what breed of dog you have. (just depends on your dog's personality and acceptance to the training methods, so it's really even more specific than breed).

I really don't see anything in the specific breed sections that isn't interesting to all owners of that type of dog, though. Usually when I've got something to post about Justus I do it in the general chat forum anyway, just so more people can appreciate the post. When something pops in any of the pointing breeds sections I usually check it out anyway. It'd just be nice to only have to visit one section, like "Pointers" or "Flushers" or "Retrievers" in order to get some of the latest news about all those types of dogs.

Wack the secion down

This is done! =)

Its now:

German Shorthair Pointers
Pointers
Retrievers
Spaniels

hahah, only kidding, GSPs don't get their own category. I did these categories according to AKC hunt tests categories:
http://akc.org/dic/events/hunting/index.cfm

Hope you like...
