Dog has KILLER gas...Feeding Pro Plan

Post by Ecw21 » Tue Dec 02, 2008 7:18 pm

I feed my Brittany, Chloe, Purina Pro Plan-Chicken & Rice formula and she routinely has some INCREDIBLY toxic gas. I give her the occasional pig's ear and pressed rawhide bones to satisfy her chewing bug.

Has anyone experienced similar reaction to Pro Plan formulas? If so, do you have any suggestions?

As we speak, I'm enveloped in a fog of dog farts...it's terrible!

Thanks all,

Eric

I was reading a different thread that talked about gas problems, they said it was the rawhide.

I quit giving my dog those rolled up pig hide chews, see if that helps.

I feed Exceed Chicken and Rice (Sam's Club's version of Pro Plan) to my GSP and she ALWAYS has bad gas!

No gas issues with either Pro Plan or Exceed. Nose-burning, eye-watering gas with pig ears, though.

I have two dogs on Exceed and two on ProPlan. No problems whatsoever. For clarification, if you check the labels Exceed seems more like a Eukanuba (did I spell that right?) equivalent rather than ProPlan.

We just transitioned from Purina One to Purina Pro Plan, but I think my dog has had gas since day 1

She has this interesting habit of farting when she runs down the stairs

My bet is that your dog just has a healthy digestive system. The gas isn't so bad, it is the silent nature and then the walking past me dragging the smell that get to me.

My pup's on Pro-Plan Large Breed Puppy and only occasionally farts. Just enough that when I cut a bad one I can, usually, get away with blaming it on him. 8) :P

Escuse me for laughing but this is funny. Even though I am sure it is not funny when you are watching TV, or trying to!

IAMS here, and nothing any worse ( or better) than I can produce!

It's the rawhide and pig ears. I went a week with out giving my dog any and the farts went away some. Then I gave them back to him and oh my god they were back. The funny thing is I blame them on my wife when we have people over.

oh this gas thing makes me laugh! my older gsp has gas so bad- its like dead and bloated body thats decaying bad. my pup, has a different smell-like the cow processing plant smoke that comes out of their chimneys, bad, but not completely putrid. i swear, i think things are rotting inside my dog.
