Re: First Major Accident
Looks like one of my Vizslas that impaled herself and had to have a lung removed.
Re: First Major Accident
The piece of branch they removed was about as big as my thumb. I took him into our normal vet today just to have another look. 2" she said and he likely wouldn't be around. They are going to clean up the wound and I take him back Thursday to have the drain removed. Hopefully can get him to relax enough to actually heal.

Hope your dog has a quick full recovery. One of the guys I know had that happen to his female and that has become a big fear of mine with my dog. Good luck.
Re: First Major Accident
That is too bad. Hope the dog heals up fine. When we let that big running dog off the leash a multitude of things sure can go wrong.

Re: First Major Accident
I have no doubt he will make a full recovery. After the vet cleaned it all up yesterday it looked so much better. Swelling has gone down considerably and no sign of a limp. Unfortunately I have to leave for a week and a half, but expect him to be almost healed by the time I get back at the rate he seems to be going. Its amazing how tough he is, I just hope nothing like this every happens again, but intend to be far better prepared should something happen. Pet first aid and first aid kit will be on the agenda shortly.

Re: First Major Accident
Go0d mojo sent- sure worry about that- Last weekend we had the boys out running thru the forest- I leaned over to my wife and said- the older boy sure runs with a purpose ( to find birds) but that young boy just runs like a deer sure hope he doesn't impale himself.
