Brucellosis test results.

Post by winchestermodel50 » Mon Mar 17, 2008 6:12 pm

Say fellas, if I took my female to the vet for a brucellosis test. How long would it take to get the results?

I usually get results reported back to my office in 24 to 48 hours (1 to 2 working days)...it can be longer if the wrong test is requested (i.e. for import or export).

It's going to depend on your vet. There's a test that can be done in house within an hour. Most vet's however have to send them into a private or university lab. In the latter case it's going to depend on how long it takes in transit and how far behind the lab is. CR

you should be able to get an in house pre-lim test done in a matter of minutes. pull blood, spin it down, and mix serum with some brucella antigen on a card and look for agglutination. however, then the vet has to send it to the state lab and let them test it to make it official for health papers, etc. at least thats how i do it.
