Wild parsnip

Post by MTO4Life » Sun Oct 05, 2008 5:29 pm

Can anyone tell me if wild parsnip affects dogs? We are overgrown with it this year for some reason (possibly the wet summer??) and I get affected by it. Not sure if my dog will, and I don't want her to have issues with it. I'm sure it's like poison ivy, if she goes through it, I can get it from her correct? Just thought I'd ask and see. Thanks.

I have never heard of a problem running through it. I know it is supposed to be poisonous but that is all I know about it. We have it around every year and its in the fields we hunt but thats all I know about it.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I know little about the effect on dogs. The link below is to a person who studies the effects of the plant in the Wisconsin area. You can e-mail questions to the DNR on this. Maybe it will help
