Frozen Semen

Post by shets114 » Sun Dec 28, 2008 6:32 am

Anyone have much experience in shipping Semen from overseas?
Looking at an opportunity in the future, to get frozen semen from a male in Denmark. Just wanted to see if there was any experience out there and how well it turned out. What would the average survival rate be if shipped that far.
Is there a particular company with a good reputation for overseas shipments?

Thanks for any help.

Hi, I'm figuring you're not too far from Cleveland area since we go to some of the same field trials. Check out http://www.northviewvet.com They are very experienced in shipping semen, collection, insemination, etc. etc. They are an approved storage facility. They even had a booth at the recent Cleveland shows and were collecting dogs for frozen storage right at the show site. Kristi

I don't have any experience but am also looking into a European male. I think the donor male must be AKC DNA certified in order for you to register the pups with AKC.

Get ready to spend a minimum of $1500, as that is about the cheapest that I know here in the states, of course that includes a surgurical implant.

It is very expensive and there may some restrictions on the stuff from the government.
