Cleaning & Disinfecting Concrete Kennels

Post by gambel » Mon Jun 29, 2009 1:31 pm

Hey you'all,

I know I have seen this discussed somewhere before but I am curious what everyone uses to disinfect and clean their concrete runs and kennels. I have read about certain concerns of using bleach because of irritation etc. I have also heard of others using dawn dish soap? What does everyone use and at what ratios?

Thanks

KenCare and Top Performance 256. I just use them according to the label instructions.

Brenda,

Which Odoban product do you use? I found the website and they have a gazillion products.

I will occasionally wash them down with water and Dawn dish washing, this seems to help keep the flies down. My regular mix is ten parts water to one part bleach, this is also what we use to clean blood spills with at work.

I second the odoban, get the gallon concentrate and it last a long time. I add it to one of the garden feeders that attach to the garden hose and put about 2 or 3 ounces in the reservoir, fill with water and and spray kennel let sit for at least 10 minutes then rinse down. For summer months I rinse with KOE mixed in the rinse water using the garden sprayer.

I have used many different cleaners and a nylon brush on a long handle. For odor control and disinfecting I have used 1 cup of bleach to a gallon of water and let dry. If concrete is in the open air and some sun so it will dry quickly then you won't have much if any bleach smell after. I don't.

I have also used Odor Mute mixed in water. It has been around for YEEEAAARRRSS.

I use just plain old Simple Green, scrub with long handle brush, rinse with plain water. After that, 15 % bleach in water in spray bottle, squirt it on and rinse it off. Done.

This is pretty much what we do.
