If I remember rightly the other poster received a reply from a knowledgeable breeder saying it was a yeast infection - see the vet.

Many times it is yeast because they keep that area wet from drinking often when they are hot

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

try some lotrimin or any of the athletes foot type creams or sprays if you do not see any improvement in a couple days call the vet

that is interesting- never thought about that- I've removed the collars as I think it has a bit to do about them shedding and the collar causing the itch this time of year

I would say go to the vet, that way you know if it is yeast, or some type of mange. If not, it is possible it could be allergies or fleas.

You might look into food. Nutrition can often solve (or create) problems. I buy my food online and have extensively researched food, prices and sites. I buy nearly all of my pet supplies from http://www.petfoodauthority.com - they have a great selection of food, information and ingredients to help you decide which food suits your dogs needs best, and their prices are the best I've seen. Best of all, I get my food delivered in 7-10 days as opposed to the 2-3 week wait from other sites.

The prices I checked are about 8 to 10 dollars more a bag than you can buy them locally. I don't think I could be comfortable spending that much to have a bag delivered a week later. It is possible a food might be a problem but is so unlikely that there are many other things i would check first, such as what has been already talked about.

If yeast related also check between the pads of the paw. Our dog transferred a yeast infection in the ear to her paw and then back to her ear before we figured out it was living in her paw as well. It looked like a reddish/pink area.
