Scunching up a slice of cheese around the pill has worked in the past for me.

Put the pill as far back on the tongue as I can then hold the muzzle shut while stroking the throat. If a dog happens to give my wife a hard time she will hold the muzzle and blow into the nostrils after she has tried the first method.

I open their mouth, shove the pill in way in the back, then hold their mouth closed with their nose pointing up until they swallow.

A small amt of raw hamburger made into a ball with the pill in the middle. They always gobble it right down.

<lol> Well, Zio has gotten wise to this delivery system. He very carefully eats the cheese & leaves the pills. Leftover lunchmeat seems to work. Failing that, the "push back in the throat, hold the muzzle closed & stroke the throat" method seems to work. Especially when followed by "good boy" and a couple of his favourite mini-biscuits. ;)

Peanut Butter. Works every time for every dog I've had.

My gsps are able to pick pills out of anything. So I either crush the pill with a pill grinder and mix it with a dab of moist food......or I use a pill syringe that my vet gave me. It's like a $3 gizmo where you put the pill in a soft rubber applicator and push the syringe when you get the tip/pill where you want it. It's pretty quick and simple, especially if you're giving meds for an extended period of time.

This is similar to mine.

I work on their natural desire to "wolf" food down when the opportunity presents itself. Put the pill in the treat of your choice and have another treat without the pill in your hand -- give them the pill-filled treat first and then immediately present the non-tainted treat for their insatiable appetite. They will "wolf" the first piece down so that they can consume the second piece as soon as it is offered. If you have a dog that is too dainty for this trick then it must be gay.

I use Bil-Jac treats or hotdogs.

My one dog will eat pills as if they are treats. The other will eat right around it in the dog food bowl. I have tried cheese, bread, and even peanut butter (he licks the pb off).

So I open his mouth, shove it to the far back of his throat and that's it.

I use this method, just have to wash the saliva off your thumb.

That's what I do. I just put the pill in a glob of peanut butter and let the dog lick it off the knife, finger or whatever. Never fails.

I give the dog a sniff of a treat, stuff the pill way back into the throat then quickly give him the treat. Works for me.

since I'm usually opening their mouths to take something it's no big issue to open their mouths and push a pill into the backs of their throats-

question- if you are doing more than one dog and putting it in peanut butter or something- what do you do when you see a pill on the floor/ground
