Lyme Disease

Post by gar-dog » Fri Sep 18, 2009 8:56 am

A neighbor of mine is in a walkathon for a charity that funds research and education surrounding Lyme disease, called Turn the Corner foundation. I only recently heard of it because this walkathon is in my town next week. If you would like to sponsor him the link is:

The charity also paid for the production of a documentary on Lyme and the trailer is here on youtube:

LYME DISEASE IS THE NUMBER 1 GROWING INFECTIOUS DISEASE. AND WE HUNTERS AND DOG TRIALERS ARE IN THE HIGHEST RISK GROUP. For many the disease can become chronic and debilitating. From another forum:

"I have two friends that are crippled in a most wretched way from this disease. Their passion in life was wild bird hunting. They are now passionate about being able to go to the bathroom unassisted."

Whatever you do, PROTECT YOURSELF this Fall!

I contracted Lyme a couple years ago and was well into the second stage before going to the doctor. I was miserable and it took several months to get over it. I consider myself lucky compared to some people that have had it and preach about the dangers of it every year to the people I train and hunt with.
