raw diet

I know a few people on the board have claimed to feed a raw diet or supplement a quality kibble. Can anyone point me in the direction of some good information on the subject.

A word of caution: Understand what you are doing before you do it and go slowly at first. No need to shock you dogs system but it makes sense when you digest the whole concept and are willing to commit to it.

The book mentioned above was written by Ian Billingurst, DVM. He has written a few a books. Tom Lonsdale, DVM has written a few books as has Steve Brown, who wrote See Spot Live Longer. He also developed the food Steve's Real Food, which he sold a while ago. As popular as these guys are, Robert Abady put a raw frozen complete diet on the market in the early 1970's a decade before anyone else. That food is still on the market. Sylvia Hammarstrom has been breeding Giant Schnauzers and feeding an entire kennel raw food for about 40 years. She has good tips on her website. Mary Strauss is another good resource. Her Dogaware website has a comprehensive listing of national and regional suppliers as well.

I feed about 50% raw 50% dry, some days 100% either way depending on whats defrosted or time constraints. I assume you live in Georgia. I highly recommend Blue Ridge Beef. Excellent quality and great prices. I buy it once in a while when the lady from Virginia is in New York. Oma's Pride is another great source Those are perfect products to add raw meat, organs and bones without spending too much time or money.
