Another Diamond Pet Food Recall
Another Diamond Pet Food Recall
I just read that Diamond Pet Foods is recalling some lines of thier Cat Food. I feed Diamond Dog food but am now considering a switch. I realize this is probably not related to the big recall of 2006 however when they promise 151 checks and then have another recall within 3 years of thier last debacle, I as a consumer become leary of continuing to buy thier product. Just wanted to give a heads up to those of you who use Diamond.
Re: Another Diamond Pet Food Recall
Before giving us a headsup you need to get some facts and thenb determine if it has any connection at all to there dog food, which I doubt. But even then recalls are not all bad. It shows they have a QC program that works and they aren't afraid to do whats right for their customers rather than just let it go like some companies do. I will bet the cat food is not made at the same plant as their dogfood and is a seperate division run by different people. Also it would have different ingredients and different manufacturing process. Find out what is going on such as is their a recall and if there is what is the nature of the problem and then let us know what you find out.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

" Recalls are not all bad" ?? Then why have a recall? Why would a recall be necessary. I usually are with you 99.9% of the time. But that "dog just dont't hunt" imo...Thanks
Re: Another Diamond Pet Food Recall
The news story claims that Diamond confirmed that the plant that makes the cat food is the plant in SC that produced the tainted dog food a few years ago.

Re: Another Diamond Pet Food Recall
Ididn't say it was right because in theory everything should be caught before it leaves the plant. However, many times due to volume and also by trying to keep everything as fresh as possible feed is shipped before all of the tests are complete. When something comes back then that are less than perfect some companies let it go while others start a voluntary recall. When a recall is instigated by the company it is called voluntary while if it is something that is serious enough to cause major problems then the government gets involved and they instigate a manatory recall to protect the public.bossman wrote:" Recalls are not all bad" ?? It's never good to have a recall but I am happy when a company follows up on any irregular test result by recalling their product that may be defective.

Re: Another Diamond Pet Food Recall
Maybe I have bad eyes, but the recall notice is not even on the company's website. I am sure I missed it.

I didn't see it either. Why would you give a company that killed at least 76 dogs another chance?mcbosco wrote:Maybe I have bad eyes, but the recall notice is not even on the company's website. I am sure I missed it.
Re: Another Diamond Pet Food Recall
The recall that is referred to here happened in Sept., was voluntary when it was discovered the vitamin premix they used in two brands of cat food was low in thiamine. There was a chance that if it was fed as a sole feed for a long period it could lead to a thiamine deficiency. I didn't find anymore about it.

Re: Another Diamond Pet Food Recall
I did not say it was specifically related to dog food in fact I stated very clearly that it was a CAT FOOD recall. However, a recall like this, voluntary or not is going to be a sensitive subject given the events of 2006. I posted on this forum simply to give a heads up that Diamond Pet Food did issue a recall. Diamond did not post information about the recall on their website. I learned about it via a notice on petco.com.
Re: Another Diamond Pet Food Recall
And we thank you. I was just trying to get some facts so we could all see what it was all about. Seems it wasn't a problem with anything they did but rather a shortage of the Thiamine in the vitamin premix they used at the Gaston plant. Hope this sets the record straight and stops people from worrying about the products they are buying today.jsc11700 wrote:I did not say it was specifically related to dog food in fact I stated very clearly that it was a CAT FOOD recall.
