hill's z/d reduced energy?

Post by naperdog » Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:51 am

i've had my dog on hill's prescription diet for just over a month due to some allergy issues. I have noticed a bit of a drop in his energy level and wondering if it could be caused by this food. I haven't had him out hunting recently so i can't really say if that has been affected.

he is also approcahing 2, so i don't know if that could be part of it?

I believe Hill's products tend to reduce calories to reduce weight. Their products are inferior and too costly. You are better off to go to a local feedstore, and have a knowledgeable person there get you a name brand product that is hypo-allergenic. There are many good products that will help your dog without making the Vet richer.

i agree with steve the ones i put in the past, verus, annamaet, natural balance, california natural, blackwood are much cheaper and made with real food.

i am wishing we had started him on a better hypo allergenic food to begin with. i didn't really want to change foods 1/2 way through the food trial though. He is mostly getting better and the last 25# bag i bought should be the last. After this bag i'll be moving onto something better.
