elbow and hip x-rays

Post by nanney1 » Mon Mar 01, 2010 7:30 am

O.K. I know what the hip extended view x-ray looks like. It is a single radiograph showing both hips.

But, for elbows, is it one x-ray showing both elbows?.... or two individual x-rays of each elbow?

For OVC certification, it clearly says of each elbow. From OFA's FAQ, it seems to also require a radiograph of each elbow.

So, if you're doing hips and elbows at the same time, you end up with three x-rays... correct?

Yes, one for hips and one for each elbow.

nanny1,
This also depends on which testing format you are talking about, Penn-Hip is a multi shot test from different angles and actual measurements are done.
Not sure about elbows, but from the criteria it seems at least one of each joint is required.
