Hunters Edge by Arkat

Post by hoosier » Sat Mar 13, 2010 9:08 pm

What ever happened to Hunters Edge? About 3 years ago it appeared alot of people were switching to this food. Haven't heard it mentioned in a while.

There are still alot of people using it. I used it for awhile and switched to Sportmix, only because it is a few dollars cheaper, just as good and last but not least, it is available 1/2 mile from home. The Hunter's edge is an excellent dog food, but availability is a problem in some areas.

I fed Hunter's Edge for a few months, but I recently switched to Loyall. HE is a good feed and priced at about $21 for 50 lbs here at the locally owned feedstore.

Loyall is a bit more expensive, but I only feed two dogs. I presently use the Active Adult, and I really like how the dogs do on it. Very cost effective.

There are many feeds that are less expensive like Hunter's Edge and Sportsmix, and they are very good. Most dogs do well on most good feeds. I've been in a mode lately of checking out a few feeds more or less like research.

Depending on what part of the country you're in Arkat can be pretty difficult to get and as a company pretty hard to deal with. Just speaking from personal experience, and we're feeding plenty of mouths.

I feed it, and I am very happy with it. I go through a 50 pound bag per week at $24.50 per bag. To be honest, it is the best food that I have found (especially for the price) since I switched from PP 2 years ago.

I also feed it and go through 50lbs every two weeks. By looking at these posts I pay more than most on here, 28 a bag. IFA stores here carry it and sometimes it goes on sale for 24 a bag. I usually buy as many as I can afford at that time. I have been real happy with it. I fed the edurance for a while but noticed no difference in my dogs other than price.
Also my wifes lab has allergies and will itch herself raw. The H.E she does great on and isn't alleric too.

I have been feeding Hunter's Edge for about two years and I am very satisfied with the feed. I am located in south central Kentucky and pay $18.99 per 50 lb. bag

As I said the food is good feed, I wish I could've struck something up with them. I just had a problem where I 'm located being able to get it. As I run a kennel I cannot go without being able to rely on service from a company who cannot guarantee quality service.

I used to feed it also for a couple years then ran into some issues when they did a formula change..plus it was a serious pain to get when on the road
We are now feeding loyall maintenance and it is doing great for the kennel even the active dogs are maintaining extremely well on it and the performance is doing very good for younger dogs and when we go on the road for the trial dogs.
