broken toe nail

my lab came in the house on fri. morn. bleeding from her toe nail she broke about a 1\4 inch off it stopped bleeding after a couple minutes. I called the vet and she looked at it and said the nail bed was still good so now its tues. and it still bleeds a little after being outside how long does it take to grow back?

how long does it take to grow back?
6 weeks or longer. If it is still bleeding are you soaking/cleaning it each day? Nail bed infections are nasty.

It may be a good idea to wrap it just while she's outside. :)

what do you soak it with hydrogen proxide or just warm water or ?

Warm water with antibacterial soap (hand soap humans use) is fine. If it looks sore and inflamed you can do a warm water and epsom salt soak. Peroxide can actually be pretty damaging to tissues. I never use it. Plain old soap works well. Good luck!

Might want to put her on some antibiotics too. I use amoxicillin. Usually can get it at a feed store without a script. Look for FixMox. Its 250mg of Amoxicillin.
