pup food switch...

Post by Ahumphers91a » Wed Nov 16, 2011 10:50 am

So I know your supposed to keep pups on "puppy food" til' 6 months to a year, but is it really a big difference switching from loyall 31/20 puppy to loyall 24/20? I had to switch because of money issues waiting for a check to come in the mail, ran out of puppy food and switched her gradually from the above mentioned to th other mentioned above. She seems fine, but is she getting everything she needs?

Ive never fed any of my pups "Puppy" food.......They all (pups and adults) eat 32/25 or a performance 30/20.

I'm not sure I get knocking young adult working dogs down to 24/20....Whats your reasoning there?

I have no idea what you read and don't read on here but it would be my guess that there are somewhere in the area of 50 posts on here in the past few months where it is explained that many of us never use puppy food and why. You can switch whenever you want and it is smart to do it gradually.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I was told that feeding puppy food for too long MAY cause them to grow too fast and cause joint damage later on... Maybe its time for the change anyway...

just to be safe, the food should say for 'all life stages" and not "adult maintenance"

I switched in the original post because I was running low on puppy food, waiting for a workmans comp check in the mail. So over a week period I gradually went from loyall puppy (31/20) to loyall performance I think it was (24/20) that's the reasoning. I figured since the switch she has maintained her wieght, no loose stool etc. Then maybe just keep her on it.

i use CANIDAE ALL LIFE STAGES and slowly add it to puppy food.
make sure the kibble is small for puppy, if not use puppy food a little longer.
sometimes kibble is too large for puppy.
