Diamond Extreme Athlete for puppies?

Post by wberry85 » Wed Jan 25, 2012 6:08 pm

Is it ok for puppies? The bag only has suggestions for adult dogs. The puppy is around 5 months old. He was on ProPlan Performance before. Should I just stick with the 4 cup/day amount from the ProPlan?

i brought my latest pointer up on EA exclusively, she did fine , didn't grow to fast no problems at all.....

Start off slow with it, switch over the course of a bag of each...

Why are you changing?? Is your pup not doing well on Pro Plan?

No the ProPlan is fine, but I would like both my dogs to eat the same food. I had started the puppy on ProPlan because my feed store was closed for a couple of days so I had to choose another food in a pinch. The older dog has always been on Diamond EA so I want to just transition him over to the EA. Plus EA is cheaper.

As they said, mix it in slow. My 9 month old has always been on a higher food. We recenlety decided to switch to the EA extreme after running out of what we were feeding. We didn't get a chance to blend out of the old to the new, pup had the runs for several days and was not able to hold it in for longer periods of time. She's solid and doing good now but it was a slow mix in. She's still not on 100% extreme yet. Been a couple of weeks now and she should be close to going to 100% soon.

Another note , Im betting your final ration will be shy of what you might have been feeding on PP.....

If mine sit a week without alot of work they will begin to fatten quickly on the EA so i cut that ration back even further.

Another thing to keep in mind is to pay no attention to the feeding recommendations on the bag. The only one who can tell you how much to feed is your dog. Just keep an eye on him and feed accordingly.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.
