Progesterone Blood Tests

Post by Hotpepper » Wed Jun 28, 2006 4:19 pm

If you have used these tests, what was the level in the female's blood and when did you breed????

I know that this is very very important when doing a frozen semen litter.

The scuttlebutt is to wait 48 hours after the initial surge to 3.0 level. Just looking for information.

What did you do differently?

I can't remember the level that they recommend. My vet takes the sample and sends it to UT vet lab. You dont get the results till the next day and if it's on a Friday, not till the next Monday. I have been told that some vets actually do the testing "in house".I guess I will have to find one that does this close to home.

me too, dont remember the level. my vet does it in house, especially for fresh extended, which has to be collected and then shipped overnight, so important to get going quickly.
