Dog injury

Post by DogNewbie » Thu May 10, 2012 5:22 pm

My 11 month old GWP was playing with the neighbor dog today and the other dog jumped at him when he wasn't looking and landed on his back/rear. Briar let out a loud shriek of pain and then proceeded to continue playing but not with the same vigor as before and I noticed every once in a while a slight limp in his back right leg. So I took him home and looked him over (I'm no vet so I really have no clue what I'm doing) and notice that when I extend his right leg straight back, as he would running, he pulls it away. He'll let me extend his left leg though. Walking he also seem unbothered. Any red flags/advise/word of wisdom/thoughts?

Sounds lik a sprain from two dogs playing. betting you won't see any effect by tomorrow. Just watch to be sure but it sounds pretty normal to me.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Yeah. He already seems less bothered. I'm sure this is just another case of a first time dog owner being overly worrisome. Thanks for the reply.

Think you are right but many of us have been there.

I use arnica montana for soft tissue injuries that don't appear serious and for overexertion. I get the low reduction homeopathic or sometimes use a topical. No side effects.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.
