Fox Tail Awn????

Post by rschmeider » Tue Aug 14, 2012 4:11 pm

This stuff is taking over the App. range in WPA....Can anyone tell me why and how this stuff is growing in the MT. range of PA.

It gets stuck in my dogs eyes, ears, nose and thoat..I was out a couple times this year in my covet spots and got into this Awn seed bad... It was not their last year.

Just found a lump on my dogs side, squeezed it and infection came then a awn seed popped out...I have been hunting Grouse over 30yrs never have came across this stuff like this.

Seen it last year couple places, this year everwhere...Hear is a pic..

Especially check between the paw webs, and under the ear flaps. We have it here in Canada too. It greatly affects the yield of summer crops.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

I was first told it was sneeze grass from the local cover trail crowd....Then i was told its cheatgrass...Then foxtail.

Its was brought hear from the Mediterranean :? ...Who knows ...Ticks now this..Have Dogs coming up with lymes and lumps. Great!

This stuff is growing deep in the woods ...I thought this is a western weed..That needs alot of sunlight.

Would foxtails be the same as spear grass?

Not the same, but same type of barbed seed.

We refer to all that nasty stuff as fox-tail. Different but the same nasty stuff.

At a certain time of year you must keep the dogs out of the field.

By winter most of the danger is gone with the snakes.

Most folks don't think to check under the foreskin.
