skin issue

Post by nanney1 » Mon Jan 14, 2013 1:27 pm

I have a young dog who developed a red tummy about a couple of weeks ago. Instead of being the normal light pink, the skin on the stomach has turned a darker red. No rash or bumps of any kind. Doesn't seem to bother her and she doesn't scratch or lick the area. Just seems a darker color than normal.

I seem to vaguely recall that the same thing happened for a brief period last year at this time of year. I'm guessing the cooler, drier air, or a change in the ground or grass during the winter. Any ideas? I have a feeling it will clear up as the weather warms in a couple of months.

Is she spayed?
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

No, she's now about halfway between cycles.

Could have a hormonal cause.
