My 8 week old Vizsla has had her first 3 sets of shots. My wife would like us to go visit her parents for the weekend and the pup is too little to be left for someone else to care for. My in-laws have a pug that is not current on her shots. My MIL says she will get the shots updated tomorrow but my understanding of conferred immunity is that the pug will not be up to date for 10-14 days after the shots.
So, am I correct in saying that we should not risk exposing the new pup to the in-laws pug at this time?
Thanks.
Pup exposure to other dogs
Re: Pup exposure to other dogs
Unless this pug is running at the local dog park/kennel/ other places where things you should be concerned about run rampant, I wouldn't be concerned, especially of the pug has also been vaccinated as a young dog.
There's a difference between taking your 8 week old pup to petco/dog park and taking him to visit grandma and grandpa.

Thanks,
I think the pug did get the vaccinations when it was a pup, but they live on the farm and just didn't keep up with vaccinations.

A Pug should make a nice dog for the pup to socialize with.
