Bells First Heat

Hi everyone,

When I came home today, I saw that Bell had come into heat! The time is here! I feel like my little girl has grown up. If today is the first day she was bleeding, could carl (6mo. GSP) have gotten her pregnant?

Carl is physically able to get her pregnant, but she won't become fertile until around the 22nd. It's generally 10-14 days from the 1st day of bleeding. Carl will want to be near her and bother her, but won't attempt to tie with her until that time. Bell will also want him to be near...you might want to think about getting another area for Carl for the next few weeks...preferrable where they can't see or smell each other.

Ok, Bell went into heat on Apr14/15, or around then. Should it be okay now for Her anc Carl to begin playing again? Todays date is Apr. 29th and her swelling is going down...

Bell and Carl should be able to play again. That's long enough for her to not be in heat anymore, even if she were a late breeder.
