Puppy and Purina Pro Plan Sport

Post by rlrobinhood » Sat Mar 15, 2014 8:22 pm

Hi all,

I have a 10-week old Britt puppy. The breeder told us to feed him Purina Pro Plan Sport as that is what he was feeding him (in mush form) when we got him. He's now eating it dry and in kibble. Anyways, I had him at the vet the other day and they were very concerned with him getting this diet and felt that he should be on a "puppy" food diet. What are your thoughts?

Thanks.

He will be just fine with what he's on.

Which "Sport" is it? I feed pro plan sport performance to pups. 30/20 protein to fat

I've never ever fed puppy food, again he will do fine...

Body condition is more important than "puppy" food.

My last 3 puppies were raised on Pro Plan. The oldest was fed Pro Plan Puppy Chicken and Rice 28/18. The next one was raised on Pro Plan Chicken and Rice Adult 26/16 all life stages. Next one was on Pro Plan Performance 30/20. If I have a litter, the pups will transition on to the 30/20 all life stages Performance.

They all worked well. I'd continue with what the breeder had the pups on.

Haven't had a problem using Sport/Performance 30/20 from the start. The differences between Puppy and Sport are minimal...just do a comparison of the ingredients.

We're feeding the 30/20. Sounds like we're good to go. Thanks all for your input. I figure we were good to go, but just wanted another opinion. Got many and their all greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The breeder had my last pup on Purina Pro Plan Sport 30-20, it is listed for all life stages. I kept her on it as a puppy and through her first hunting season. It is expensive but she did very well on it.
