Ivomec PLUS???

Post by ssjetset » Mon Nov 20, 2006 10:08 am

I have been using .27% Ivomec for years, the wife buys Ivomec Plus-1%ivermectin and 10%clorsulon. Do any of you guys use this and what amount for a 50lb dog, I never saw this stuff so I,m at a loss. Thanks

I have heard to only use the standard Ivomec, and not the plus, but I do noy remember why, seems to me it was the same reason Ted gave, may be toxic to dogs.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

We use the 1% solution. Have been told to never use plus. Not sure but I think it has something added for fluke worms ?

Yea Brittt you are right, the clorsulon sp? is made for fluke worms in cattle. I believe that is what can be fatal to dogs. I have used just reg ivomec and have had no problems at all. It should do for our needs.

What is the Ivomec dose you guys are using? I've been told it is 1 drop per month for a 50-60lb dog

.1cc per 10lbs is used by many people.

I have been using ivomec plus for years with no problems whatsoever. I give my pointers 3/4 of 1 cc every month and 1cc to my lab. Just my two cents.

Wow, that's a lot more than I'd been told. No problems though?
I've been having a hard time getting my dogs to put weight on lately. I was afraid I'd given them too much. Maybe just the opposite!

I'm a little gun-shy about medications. I lost a dog a few years ago, I'm pretty sure she died from Proheart complications. Actually she died from euthanasia after months of trying to figure out why she was dropping weight. I couldn't watch her starve to death.
