GSP spay recovery

Post by Beretta14 » Sun Jul 20, 2014 7:09 pm

How long did it take your GSP to begin acting "normal?" It seems like the next day ours was ready to go! We definitely do not want to chance anything and We are doing our bed best to keep her calm but all you owners of GSP's know that is no easy task.

What are you expecting? It should always be "ready to go" whether spayed or not.... If your talking about her physical recovery, that is best answered by your Vet but don't expect a change in its personality.

He is asking about the recovery time fro m the surgery. That is all.

10 to 14 days should put her back at full strength but she will be ready to go before that so just keep her in the yard so she isn't exerting herself and she should be fine.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

That's why I said "ask your Vet".

This is the original post. It is plainly stated that he just asked other owners how long their dog took to be back to normal.

Just had my setter spayed 10 days ago. She was pretty much back to normal the next day. Keeping her from running and jumping was next to impossible. She goes tomorrow to get the stiches out. It looks OK but I'll know for sure tomorrow. I had several other dogs spayed over the years but I don't remember much about them.
