Any body using (or prescribing) Bravecto for fleas and ticks? Opinions? Experience? Thanks.

Watching this thread closely. Here is an interesting study I found while doing some research a little while ago. The study seems to back up the manufacturers claims.

We have used it on our dogs for about a year, have not had any issues and are very happy with the product. Seems to work very well, this summer saw one tick on the dogs and it was crawling around not attached. Had dogs in catskill area of NY and Ithaca, NY both big tick hot spots, so very happy with the results. Also its a chewable so very nice to not have to put the topical stuff on the dogs and then worry about it getting over your house. Finally its very convenient to only have to give once every three months. Hope that helps

my vet was recommending it. one of the other vets in the practice gave in a trial run with his hunting dogs in the fall, and had very good results. I am planning to start my dog on this in the spring.

this study demonstrates how well Bravecto kills ticks -- almost 100 percent in 12 hours.

It's a new chewable flea and tick preventative that supposedly lasts 12 weeks. I really like what I've read and heard so far. My only worry is that it's relatively new, although it's been available in Europe for longer. My vet has it for ~$50 per dose and I've seen it online for about $40.

I just gave Bravecto to all 5 of my setters on May 1. Only one had mild vomiting and diarrhea for less than 24 hrs. after eating the chewable. So far I have only pulled 2 dead ticks off of two of the dogs. I paid $50. per chewable from the vet, will be worth it if they last the full 12 weeks, hate those topical treatments. Only 3 weeks into it but will see if it lasts the full 12 weeks...

Thought I'd bump this thread to hear more Bravecto testimonials if any.

I treat each dog for $3.25 per 6 weeks, live in S.E Texas and haven't even seen a flea or tick for many years now. Bravecto seems too expensive for what you get from it. I'm not knocking it but until I see the cost effectiveness, I wont be trying it anytime soon.

Is Bravecto a prescription drug only from your vet, or can you buy it on line?

Prescription only from what I have seen. That is part of the reason for the inflated expense.
