Not sold in Canada and can't be bought on line and sent to Canada. We always let you Americans test new things first.

Anybody using the Seresto collar ? ( Which also can't be bought in Canada.)

my vet says they have been using it across the pond for a while now with great success but I am not sure how bad them tics and flea's get overthere

They get very bad. I tried to order it and got a message saying , "Can not be sent to Canada". Maybe some vets can get it. ???

Got the sense not a lot of folks are using it yet. My vet recently started carrying it, but not enough dogs on it long enough for first-hand feedback.

LOL Well, we don't have to worry about being shot every time we leave the house.

facts:

NOT hard at all to be able to use a gun for hunting here. Handguns are highly restricted. We like it that way.

Several great flea tick / heartworm meds available here -like Advantix 2

I worked in Ontario as well as here in the mid-west and never once did I worry about being shot when I left the house in either place.

My vet is now selling this stuff as well. They seem to be pushing it a lot more than the topical (vectra3d) that they were last year. Looking forward to giving it a try at some point.

I just cant get anuff info on Bravecto.. there are not a lot of reviews It must be to new so I think I will sit this one out a while.. I just ordered two seresto® flea & tick collars they were under 40.00 each so we will see how they work

It's funny how all of the big city with strict gun laws are the places where they have all the gun problems.

With that said, I did recently switch to Bravecto but have only been using it for a couple of weeks.

Yup, our neighbor Idaho has.nearly no state gun laws and has less gun related murders than many parts of Canada. Our problem is punk related. If they didn't have hand guns they would use rifles or shotguns to kill each other.

Never used it.

My vet is recommending Bravecto, too. He trialed it on his bird dogs during the fall season and did not find any ticks on them (very unusual for here in NH).

I am going to make the switch this spring, as soon as I use up the topical stuff.

I used the Seresto collar last year
I didn't find one tick on my dog while using it.
that's a big improvement over the results I get from topicals.
I plan on picking up a new one soon for this year

I have had good results using the Seresto collars and I live on a lake in deep south east Texas. Zero fleas or ticks on any dog for over 2 years now. The package says that they last 8 months but I only replace them every January. Sorry, I have no experience with Bravecto but I see no reason to change what works... As a plus, the collars are reflective which helps me keep track of them at night.

Yes, I live on a lake and they even swim with them on. Only time that I take them off is when I have to obide by the "2 collar rule".

I believe it takes 24 hrs to become effective.
its a sturdy collar compared average with no metal involved.
I put it on in summer and take it off in march after the season ends

Have been going back and forth what to do. I think I am going to give the collar a try. The only time that I really worry about ticks is when I am "up north". Seems like a waste to do a topical since that is only a few times in the spring/summer and a few more times in the fall. If I lived there, I think I would give the chewable a try.

I have had the collars on the dog for about two weeks now. and they seem to work ...was out today for about three hours chasing some woodcock around nine ticks on me and zero on the dogs

Just an aside: we can't leave a collar on our #1 GSP all the time; he winds up with irritation & actual bald areas, no matter how "perfectly" the collar fits. So it's only collars outside the house here. YMMV.

one of the reasons I prefer the seresto is because it repels ticks before they bite.
whereas topicals and chewables work after the tick bites

These collars are great and safe. They work with friction. The friction against the skin dispenses what is basically Advantix in very small amounts.

So, make sure the collar is snug around the neck, not tight but make sure it is in contact with the skin.

And yes the reflectors that snap on stay on and are very bright.

Great collar and a good value.

Just an update on the Seresto collar: we have been using these on both of our dogs (almost 2 year old Britt and 15 year old mini poodle) for just over two weeks, and I have to say I am impressed. It is very dry this year in the northeast, so that may be affecting the tick numbers, but I have found only three ticks on my Brittany since putting the collar on. one was dead already, one was alive but not attached just in her fur, and the third was attached and alive but clearly almost dead. We are in the woods every day, and last year found many ticks on my dog with the spot applications (sometimes 5-6 ticks per day).

The poodle doesn't spend much time outside, but no ticks on him at all, and we would always find them on him in past years too.

anyone have an update on how Bravecto is working?
