Coconut Oil

Post by MGIII » Sat Jul 02, 2016 8:01 am

Do any of you give your dogs coconut oil? I've been giving my Britt unrefined coconut oil off and on for about a year now and he loves it. It gives him more energy, he recovers faster from running, he doesn't gain weight in the summer when exercises slows down, and he just seems to be a happier dog when on it.

The reason I'm posting this is because I'm wondering if there are any coconut oil brands you all recommend.for dogs.

I use Kirkland extra virgin from Costco $20 for a 84 0unce jar. One Tablespoon a day. Do not know that I have the results you have but the dogs look good and they like it, plus it makes my hands soft....................Cj

Just buy the cheapest one in a given grade. Packagers just buy the oil from growers, co-ops and consortiums.

I'm resurrectiong an old thread but would like to hear of more experiences with Coconut Oil and Coconut Water. I've been giving my Brittany that is allergy prone Coconut Oil with her food. Can't say if it has improved anything but from what I read it sure can't hurt. I've also been wondering about Coconut Water? It looks like it could be a good supplement while hunting and field trialing to give the dog more energy. Any thoughts?

And from my research the form of Coconut Oil does matter. It's recommended to use Virgin, Unrefined and Cold Pressed Coconut oil.
