Dry skin on my GSP's muzzle

Post by Jessie0601 » Tue Nov 01, 2016 7:51 pm

Hi there just wondering if anyone has any info on a issue I'm having with my pups face. He has what looks like dandruff on the bridge of his nose. I can scrub it off with a wet cloth but it comes back in a few days. A bit of background on Otto:
He is just over 4 months old
Happy and Healthy ( from what I can see )
On a grain free kibble
On salmon oil caps everyday

I have tried applying sweet almond and calendula oil to his muzzle but it did nothing

So basically it looks like a build up of dandruff that has to be scrubbed off.

Thank you

I would have your vet do a skin scraping to determine what it is.

My Chessie has recurrences of these same symptoms, Turned out to be fungal infection she picks up from the lake we live on. Apparently common in cool wet environments. Only way to tell is to have vet analyze sample.

Hi,
My Gsp has ECLE. This may be Discoid Lupus. Have a shin punch taken to verify.
I can help you with holistic options.
Put Bag Balm on it.
