Hunting dog has UTI

Found out our 6 month old Draht male has a slight uti. The vet says the water in our area is a huge factor. He gave us some very expensive food to give him for a few weeks. We have been feeding Muenster/IAMS mix. What about any supplements that you guys would recommend? I'm not going to keep him on the vet's food. Btw, there isn't any blood in his urine, it's just the crystals that form and this cause him irritation.
