Bleeding from Vagina

Post by oldbeek » Wed May 31, 2017 10:22 pm

Spayed female 3.5 years old. Slight blood discharge from vagina. Will a spayed bitch still bleed or do i have a problem here?? It is foxtail season and i have been watching her toes and ears close. This is new to me. She is normal in energy and diet.

Have your vet check it out. It makes no sense not to. It might be nothing but it is not normal...................Cj

I agree with Cj. Get her to the vet. Something is not right. Could be a bladder infection. Might want to take a urine specimen in with you.

See the vet. A UTI infection can cause bloody urine. Common in female dogs as their vaginal opening is so close to the ground.

Thanks Sharon. You and Dakota Zeb got me on the right track. Last week out of nowhere she urinated on the floor near the back door. It had a redish tint to it. Have an vet appt tomorrow and will bring a urine specamin.

Both of our female Golden's historically fought with UTI's, sometimes that included some blood in urine. Our Vet recommended putting them both on Paxon, that is a nutritional supplement made from cranberry extract. Our vet noted that both our girls, one now 13yrs and one now 4 years, squat unusually low to the ground which exposes them more than most female dogs to picking up bacteria. I think the younger dog learned the deep squat by watching the older female. Regardless, this supplement prohibits the bacteria from attaching to the bladder, thus eliminating the infections...

We started using this 3 years ago and it worked perfectly, not one infection since. We buy the supplement from our Vet...it is not expensive and the dogs like it....

Good Luck

Great,
I hope this works as well for you as it has for us! PS.........if your dog currently has an infection, she will have to take antibiotics to cure it! Praxton does not cure only prevents.....

Good Luck
