Brittany shedding a lot?

Post by Nmhuntr » Sun May 13, 2018 9:07 pm

Hey
My 10 month old Brittany sheds a good bit and makes Ames’s in the house. I am trying to determine if there may be a nutritional problem or if this is common for Brittanies. From what I read before I picked the breed they require a brushing once a week? Does your Brittany get hair everywhere in the house? Is there a nutritional supplement she may need? I feed Victor All life stahlges right now and she looks great but the shedding is Getty NG to be a issue.

Thanks a lot

Brittany shedding a lot?

My one year old Brittany is shedding a ton right now however it’s because he’s shedding his winter coat. It’s hot here in AZ already. My wife is ready to shave both dogs.

I've had Brittanys for over 20 years and yes, they do shed. Some more than others. My current Brittany is nearly 2 years old and so far sheds very little compared to my previous dogs. No way to stop it but you can help with a regular brushing. I recommend using a Furminator brush. I know there are supplements out there that claim to reduce shedding but I have never seen any that actually work. Make sure your dog in being fed a good quality food and is getting some Omega 3 & 6 vitamins. You might also try adding some salmon oil to the dog's food. One of the best is Grizzly Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil http://www.grizzlypetproducts.com/grizzly-salmon-oil/

We have a lot of hard surface flooring in our house so I bought a robotic vacuum. I turn it on when we go to bed and it's back on it's docking station in the morning. Does a great job of picking up dog hair and other small debris. I don't use it on carpet, I get the regular vac out for that. I bought an I Life robotic vacuum on Amazon for $200 and it works great. https://www.amazon.com/ILIFE-A4s-Robot- ... um+cleaner

Omega 3 and 6 are oils and not vitamins.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

My bad! :) Omega 3 & 6 are fatty acids. Good for skin and coat.
