Tail on pointer

Just heard from UK judges seminar why the tail must come over the top, down a bit and then out, like a horses tail. Has to do with a muscle that goes around tail, to give it stabilization and faster run. Seems dogs whose tail goes off top of tail haven't as much speed in field.
Wonder if it's like the new cars, all rounded and no sharp endings, so they can go faster.
