Training DVDS?
I am thinking of buying some training DVDs. I was thinking of ordering Perfect start perfect finish. What do you guys recommend? Right now the weather sucks to train so I thought I might watch some good DVDS. Are their any sight that have articles on training?

That seems to be the ones everyone recommends. Hickox did a seminar at the kennels I worked at years ago. I should have watched but I was training.

He is still doing seminars. For a thousand bucks you can have the opportunity to watch again.Waterdogs1 wrote:That seems to be the ones everyone recommends. Hickox did a seminar at the kennels I worked at years ago. I should have watched but I was training.

I use the huntsmith and Evan Graham DVD's for training. I picked those after checking out some of the other DVD's mentioned already. They were the methods that I liked the best. I would suggest getting DVD's from different sources and seeing what method you like and then stick with it. You can always sell the ones you don't like.

Training DVDS?
Does Evan Graham's obedience method work well for versatile breeds? I have a GSP I want to do more serious obedience work with to transition him to duck hunting as well and am looking for a good next step

Re: Training DVDS?
I have a ten month old GSP I want to do some trials with. I have trained retrievers for over 17 years and worked for a bunch of retriever Pro's just wanted to get into running a pointing dog. It was what got me into dogs years ago. I love watching them work. It is weird usually I am the one with answers but it is nice to have something new fresh and fun. I do have a few local guys to train with. I know very little about running trial and the different stakes. Seems like variety is large compared to the retriever world. Thanks for the suggestions on the DVDs. I am excited about training her she has been fun so far.

Many versatiles have been trained with Smartwork Obedience & SmartFetch DVD's. In fact you'll see numerous versatile dogs on the SmartFetch DVD.Bluesky2012 wrote:Does Evan Graham's obedience method work well for versatile breeds? Training DVDS?
Evan, thanks a lot. Figure there's not a much more reliable source about the program than the man himself.
