Some of the best grouse dogs run pretty close to you

Sept 20th, Fryburg Maine Championship
Sept 24, Kilkenny New Hampshire Championship
Sept 27, Prospect Maine Championship

The Grand National Grouse Championship is running in Kilkenny in November as well

We also have 4 trials, in New Brunswick mixed in there if you are interested.

Rereading the original post, he does not want the dog to quarter. How could he stay within 20 yards and not? Other than whoaing him while I caught, I wouldn't know how to do that.

Train the dog to walk all the time would work.
