Well Thank you for the update ....

rather have it done right then slapped out and not up to par of what you had designed...that must be frustrating

need a toupee yet

So i am still with you....can't wait but I guess I have no choice but to wait I am sure you are way more frustrated then we are

I agree with knine I would rather have it done right the first time rather than just thrown out there. Will be waiting patiently for mine as well.

Made of polycarb plastic... how do these things smell? You know how when you open a new water bottle and you get the plastic smell going on? Do these things smell like that? And how, in trial runs, has this affected the dogs?

If I am not mistaken i got some water bottle from Scott ..when i first opened them to be cleaned they did not ahve that wierd plastic smell many water bottle have...and I think the launcher is made from the same plastic

not to say a dog isn't going to tell the difference but...even the metal launchers to a dog is going to have a smell to a dog versus what we could ever imagine

Getting closer i bet Scott is about bald on getting this out should be at in his posession soon and I am betting he is going to test them out before sending them out

I am excited

Here is a brief update. The board are completed and will be delivered to my production manager. She will program them and put them in the launcher. The first quantity will be shipped early next week.

Per the plastic question. The plastic does not smell. If you are familiar with nalgene drinking bottles the plastic is pretty much the same. If you aren't look it up for reference.

I will provide an update as soon as I have it. I am confident they will be arriving to me late next week.

OK, so, everything is ready to ship just waiting the circuit boards. The boards were not coming up right. So, I had to do some troubleshooting for them. So, happens it was the settings in the software that programs the board. So, the bad news is it cost me a week (that's killing me) the good news is the problem is fixed and they will ship next week. I will likely have product to ship late next week. I will let you know when I get the tracking etc.

No offense Keny but I am never happy about waiting. I am about the most impatient person you will probably ever consult with but I do want the product to be right so I have no choice but to wait, all be it impatiently. :)

In a previous life I worked for a company which manufactured and distributed rock climbing and mountaineering gear. We were always trying to rush product to market, trying to beat the competition. Looking back we did a lot of R&D on the public. Time wasn't taken to make sure the product was right. When problems arose there were recalls and very unhappy customers. In my opinion it's better to get it right out of the gate than put a product out there and have it blow up on the consumer. Even then you won't please everyone but at least you've made the effort to deliver a product which is the best you can offer. I think that's what Scott is trying to accomplish.

I see on his website the price went up now to 159.99 i don't think many more will sell at that price. The price is now creeping into the same area as the other major distrubuters, but without the warranty, and support that a 1 man shop can afford.

don't get me wrong, i am all for the little guy, and wish him well on his new product. I am happy i ordered 2 when i did, but if i had to do it over again, and had to start at 160 a piece, i would be thinking a little bit more about my decision.

Considering all this, i think the gundogforum people who ordered when they did, got excellent service, and a great deal on a new product. Now if we could only get it :D :D

If you look you can find deals on most anything. I am just stating that it may be worth the extra money to get a name brand launcher from a large commercial company. This rings true the closer the price differences are.

I got mine for alot cheaper that that 159.99 price. But if it was 159.99, honestly i would of probably passed on it, or bought just 1, instead of buying 2.

After i get mine and work with them, i may have a different opinion all together. This is all based on pictures on no actual use yet.

I hope all of us well and good luck with our new toys when they arrive.

The add on DTs are 199.99 I believe. Its just the initial unit with transmitter that costs 279.00. After that one, you can control 16 (I think) add ons from the one remote. That being said, I ordered of 2 Scott's launchers...can't wait to give them a shot!

I got mine for $125 and ordered early but it seems to me the law of supply and demand have kicked in even with a small one man distribution project. The bigger the demand the higher the price. Wish it did not have to be that way but it is a fact of economics which is usually based on greed. Perhaps the price of development or labor or even parts increased but with the classes I have taken and the professors I have heard lecture it usually boils down to a company finding a product with a great demand and then increasing your price until demand tapers off or decreases and then lowering the price just enough to keep demand where you want it for a healthy profit margin. Just my take on it though.

Hey Brushbustin, if every jack*** in the world was going to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, would you do it too? If the cost of material and labor has increased his overall cost I completely understand and agree with the guy raising his prices and if he is raising his prices just because he knows he can charge more and get it then I do not. Why not put out a good product at a cutrate price and undercut the competition and have everyone buying from you rather than immediately raising your prices the minute that demand seems to be increasing? Just my take on it though. If you can have it built, produced, marketed and sold for 50 or 75 bucks and you are charging 125 dollars for it you are still seeing a significant profit. That is the reason the U.S. is in the shape it is in now and why the price of seemingly everything is increasing. Profit margin and greed not actual profit per unit and necessity. I am sure the guy is doing his best and probably had some unforseen costs associated with production I am not trying to bring down a man who is trying to market a new product. Heck I wish I were smart enough to invent or improve upon an already developed invention enough to make a living at it.

Not just economics but how the economy runs. No profits, no investment, no products. To bad all the "greed" is what makes all of the goods and services available to us. Tommyboy you better stay out of the stock market wont make much money investing if you don't want the companies to make a profit so you can earn a return on the money you invested. I as an investor expect returns on the money I invest or I will move it to another investment that will produce returns for my risk. Glad all the corporate "greed" will allow me to retire someday and spend my time doing what I want. Guess we do have the option to go socialist and we wont have to worry about any profits for anyone, and the government can just take care of all of us.

Hate to get off topic but the website said those were introductory prices, probably had to have enough orders to have a run at the factory. Not enough orders they cost $500 ea just to make. Of course demand can drive the price up some, but prices for everything are going up 25% or so. Materials, Energy, shipping is getting a charge and a surcharge as high as 15%. Just the way it is. Scott has to make a profit not a dollar or two per launcher actual profits to cover cost, buy materials for the next run etc etc. If no profit why would he waste his time making them?

That is exactly my point. I think that it is going to be harder and harder for a the little guy to make a living and keep his prices lower on goods than the bigger manufactures.

MillerClemson for your information I was not talking from the perspective of an investor, I was speaking from the perspective of customer and a working man which a lot of you guys on this forum need to learn a lot about. I am a lower middle class to upper lower class working individual in economic status which the majority of guys on this website do not understand because quite a few but not all of you fall into the upper middle class to upper class economic demographic simply according to your yearly incomes. I say this just because of the way a lot of you speak in general and about yourselves and the knowledge all of you seem to possess. I do not dislike you because of this, as a matter of fact I envy this but I believe some of you may be out of touch with what it is like to live from paycheck to paycheck and to see inflation destroying what little you do make and making it seem like you are making less than what you really are. When you guys remember what this is like and stop telling me how cheap something is just because it does not take a week or 2 worth of my and several million other peoples(meaning those that fall into my demographic) paychecks to buy then talk to me again. By the way yes I do know how economics works and what drives it I have had the same boring classes most of you guys have had. I just think some of you make enough money that you may be a little out of touch with what the poor people are going through during this economic crisis that we are all enduring. I simply stated that one does not have to make a huge profit to be successful, even a 20 or 30% profit is stll doing very well. By the way this was in no way meant as a crack on Scott, I am sure he is doing his best, it was a generalization and a theory about the state of the economy in the U.S. today. Also I an glad so many of you plan to invest wisely and retire. I plan to open my own business which I hope will be successful and pass it on to my son and help to run it until the day I die so thanks for the retirement lesson and investment lesson but it was not needed. Once again it was appreciated though. :)

Tommy Boy,

Most investors are working people. Most prices have nothing to do with greed and a whole lot to do with existance. If Congress continues to sit around doing nothing about increasing the amount of oil weproduce in this country then I agree we might be headed for an economic crisis but we sure aren't there today. The energy prices are hurting and raising the price of everything and that along with the talk of raising taxes is starting to cause people to allocated what they are spending and causing companies to slow down their growth and raise their prices.

I think you will find that the vast majority of people on here are working people just like you. We do have some college students and a few retired people. And without a doubt they are in worse shape income wise than you. But I am sure we will all make it and we should be thankful we are alive and living in a prosperous country that produces plenty of food for all of us to but rather cheaply.

Who the heck would ever want to put 16 launchers out? Talk about a cluster. Dogs routinely bypass launchers and invariably go to # 2 or #3 so you have to be hyper aware of what's happenning or you'll have a dog on top of your launchers. More than 3 or 4 on the ground and you're just asking for trouble IMHO.

I have no interest in putting 16 launchers out personally, guess I was just giving a thorough product description...haha.

What about 4 coveys of 4 birds each? That would be nice to handle steadiness to wing.

Does that "later next week" mean the 25th or the 31st. I'm trying to show these to my trainer and I only have 2 more visits befor I bring her home. My trainer would like to see some and maybe I could help in getting one ordered but If I don't have it I don't show it.

I ordered 2 launchers on April 30. I received an email on May 12 saying he would have his first run around the first week of June. That's the last I've heard. An update would be very nice.

I just this second got off the phone with Scott and he said he had to reprogram the circuit boards due to a technical issue and was installing the wiring harnesses and should have the majority of the orders shipping on Monday and to expect them soon if that helps. :D I know I will be ready for mine.

Scott D. wrote:OK, so, everything is ready to ship just waiting the circuit boards.

Scott,

I really appreciate all the work you're doing on these launchers and am feeling for ya about now..... :(

That being said - I make my living in distribution and one thing I've found to be true over the years is that it's almost impossible to over-communicate with a customer, especially if there are problems/delays. It won't make problems get fixed any faster or product get shipped any sooner but an unsolicited weekly update from you (not a customer that just got off the phone with you) on what's being fixed, what you're waiting on, what's being reprogrammed, etc. would only take a minute and would be much appreciated. Keeping everyone in "the loop" when this stuff comes up (as it does) is a hallmark of good customer service and will outweigh any negatives from the delay because it's an indicator of how everyone will be treated in the future if there were other issues such as repairs or orders for your NEXT run (*GASP!!*) of launchers!! 8)

It would be great to see these launchers and your business take off so please know we all support you and what you're doing. This is just some friendly advice from a very eager customer (who's been under the gun a time or two as well) ......
