Critters-distractions

Post by Scott Linden » Tue Aug 12, 2008 10:34 pm

Alright everyone, so I'm running my wirehair most mornings (no birds, just exercise). But the chipmunks are everywhere, and he's after every one, chasing them around the tree, through the brush, etc.

I can call him off pretty easily most times, but wondered if I should discourage him more aggressively. He hasn't had a problem distinguishing from birds when hunting, but still ...

Suggestions?

It the critter is going to be in the woods while I'm hunting, I don't let them chase it. I don't want to be grouse hunting and have a dog chasing squirrel or chipies. Don't much care about tweeties or butterflies. With most dog's, it just seems that they know when you're actually hunting and don't chase the trash while in the hunting mode. It really isn't much to worry about.
LIFE WITHOUT BIRD DOGS AND FLY RODS REALLY ISN'T LIFE AT ALL.
