I ran my youngest shorthair yesterday she is doing reall well holding for almost all birds on the flush the ones that break right in front of her she gets a little excited and wants to take a couple steps...i was able to shot a couple over here when she stood them all they way through.....

Looks like she's doing great! How old is she? That last pic is really cool - love that high tail!

She's looks like a winner! What method of staunch do you work your dogs with?

i teach whoa from the heel postion to begin with then overlay to the e collar....i then run the dog on a 20' CC and work whoa with the ecollar until they are reliable then i take them off the CC and work whoa some more...then onto bird work i used launchers and planted birds with the dog on the CC until they are reliable enough to come off the CC. for now as the dog is only a hunting dog and i will run some hunt test i let them break on the shot...since that is good enough for the SH i am happy with that...i would like to come back and fully brake them if i decide to put a MH on them.

thanks all..... brenda thats the female that i have that goes back to some of your stuff i need to try and find the time to go to some hunt test and try and put some titles on her

luke, there is a hunttest in Feb on the 7-8 and 21-22, i'm going to both. also , in SH they must stand thru a blank pistol till the birdfield. tried to reach you about working dogs and pm'd you to go look at a spot.would like totry to work dogs this weekend if you want .
