First Preserve Hunt

Post by Texrab » Mon Oct 17, 2005 4:54 am

Here are some pics of my first preserve hunt/training with my dog. I went with a friend who did all of the shooting while I did the dog handleing. My dog was on a 10' check cord the whole time so I could keep him from chasing birds. He did real well on holding point and is abot 90% steady to flush. After the season is over I want to get him steady to fall (hopefully). http://www.gundogforum.com/album/main.p ... =x318ec2d3

Nice pictures. I hunt over GSP's that are broke to flush and break on the shot. We really like it.

How old is your dog? Looks great.

He is about 1.5 yrs old. I really want him to be steady to shot at least but I think I am going to wait until after this season to work on it. This will be his first season hunting so I figure I'll let him have fun and get fired up about the birds and then try to fininsh him up after the season. This is my first dog to train so I'm learning as I go.
